Saw Roy and Dale in 1959 at the Oregon Centennial State Fair. I was 6. Fact is, those of us who grew up with them, and with the Sons of the Pioneers, are coming to the finals chapters of our own lives, and the interest in the icons of our times is waning with our numbers.

I had one in .56-50 and still would if I hadn't needed the money more. A hoot to shoot, easy to reload for. A friend in Montana has used his to bag two whitetails. That said, I just wouldn't be interested in one in any other caliber. Lots more info on these guns at the CAS City Spencer forum, by the...

My great grandfather had a ranch just upriver on the Canadian from the Turkey Track. You go through miles of the ranch to get the site of the Adobe Walls battle -- and the grave of Medal of Honor winner Billy Dixon. The place is simply alive with history.

The .303 is famous for case stretching. Have you miked the cases before and after each firing/loading? Neck sizing should help, but it won't solve the problem in the SMLE.

Bought my first one a few weeks ago, a much-used .30 Remington made in 1909. I think I mentioned before that it had a ring in the barrel about an inch from the muzzle, and I was concerned that it would be wildly inaccurate. No worries mate! At the Sportsman's Warehouse where I work, Federal small pistol Gold Medal match primers are $34.99 per 1,000, and various other non-match primers are $27-$30 per 1,000 when we have them.
