OT) RIP Patrick Swayze

Post by JReed »

I just heard that Patrick Swayze lost his fight with cancer. I was not always a big fan of his movies but always heard that he was a good man.

His performance in "City of Hope" will remain a source of inspiration to me all my life. It is a wonderful story of selfishness, and the redemption of selflessness in service to others.

My wife liked "Dirty Dancing", and I liked "Roadhouse". His cop series last fall showed just how ill he was. So sad.

He did his own surfing and sky diving in the cult classic, "Point Break."

He always tried to do his own stunts even in his Cop series regardless of how sick he was. That takes some sand.

I caught every episode of the Beast last season--- supposedly he was working and completed the 2nd season too, but A&E does not know if they will air it.

I hope they do --- a fitting tribute to a cool guy. All these actors talk about "how hard they work" etc etc. --- well, i'd say Swayze actually did, using his work as therapy while fighting a darn serious disease.

Loved the Beast show. Favorite movie is definitely Roadhouse though, -- pure late 80's cheesiness. Sam Elliot, The Jeff Healey band (he's gone now too), Terry Funk ---- always a fun rainy day movie

Patrick Swayze, may he rest in peace.

I'd heard he was fighting cancer but nothing else. We went for a short road trip and shopping trip yesterday then rented some movies on the way home.
We watched one, then turned on the browser to check our email. As all that was coming on I put the second movie on the tray.
Ironically it was Patrick Swayze's "King Solomon's Mines".
It was kind of erie to watch that move knowing he'd just died.

He was a good actor with a really recognizable face. He'll be missed.
