I don't know about Jerry's, but Williams in Flint is definately good. Jays Sporting Goods in Clare is top notch to this day still. They opened a second shop in Gaylord and still maintain the same quality service.

Dead soft lead Lee 405gr. cast hot. Spg lube. 62gr. Goex2f compressed just enough to thumb seat bullet just above top grease groove, Light crimp. Just to keep bullet from moving. Go through the action without a hitch and shoot 3" @ 100 all day long. Kills em dead. Don't know fps, could care less.

I do that exact combination. Marlin1895CB. Lee 405 gr hollow base cast out of really hot pure lead, lubed with SPG. I compress 62 gr. of Goex 2f enough to thumb push the bullet down to the front land resting on the powder in a primed unresized case with no wad at all. I then apply just enough of a c...

Bulldog pretty well hit it on the head. The Garcias all went for $60 to $80 apiece in the 80's. That Penn levelmatic would have gone for in the $75 bracket in the mid-70's. It's a salt-water quality reel, a really nicely made piece.

I use three powders. H-4895 for mid-power loads, and H-4198 for full power loads. (both Hodgdon's) The most fun and useful loads around here though are with Unique and cast bullets. 15.5 grains under a 405g lead bullet, or 16.5g under a 365g cast gc ranch dog are both potent deer medicine in upper M...
