The .357 seems to bring more dough than the .44 mag. Less recoil plus cheaper factory ammo I assume. The nicer ones seem to be in the $800-$900.00 range. Good luck in your search. 1886. Mainly because there were far fewer 357's made compared to the 44 mags. I do believe the B-92 is the best 92 ever...

Winchester 73 Replica's? 357 mag? Safe Pressures?
I know the 1873 is not as strong as the 92 or a Marlin 1894 or the Winchester 94. But I have always wanted a 73 and for quite a while I have struggled with what caliber to get. I know the traditional caliber is 44WCF, and I know that the 45 Colt is very popular, but I want to mainly hunt deer, a coy...

I put a Browning 92 Centenial on layaway at a local gunshop last Friday. It was unfired with the box and papers in 44 mag. I am having to give 699.00 plus tax. It's a little fancier then I needed or wanted, but a Browning 92 in any configuration is pretty scarce around here, and the action was so sm...

Tell me what you have done on your 92's for sight changes. I have went a little crazy this month, I can't keep this up, but after purchasing the Browning High Grade 1886, I still couldn't get the Browning Centenial 92 out of my head, that I had looked at eairler in the day. So, I ended up putting it...

Regarding the hammer down on an empty chamber, on the old colt peacemakers in the old west, I believe that is best way to carry one, and I think a lot of oldtimers did just that. Thanks, It's a little fancy, and I would have been happy with a plain blued one, because this one's going to get shot and hunted with, but I do like the sharp checkering on it, as it feels a little more secure in the grip. I don't know, but there may be issues with a long tang vs. short tang. Isn't the Browning 71 a short tang? And the 1886's all long tangs? If I am right, then it will be difficult to match up a straight grip buttstock from an 86, and the new lower tang might not line up. My old 71 was made in 1938 an...

I'd have to chalk that up as a freak incident or poor shot placement. I've never seen a deer walk out of sight that was hit squarely with a 45-70, regardless of what bullet was used. I like the straight grip. I like the looks because I like the feel. However, it is the buttplate width, drop, pitch and comb design that really determine how a stock handles recoil. There is no spring, and yes the firing pin can fall up and down on a 39A if it fits loosely enough in the groove in the bolt, but that is not your problem. More then likely the problem is that the firing pin has broken. And some of it might even be missing. Sometimes a broken firing pin will still s...
