Sorry, yeah a marlin 1895. Maybe even a 20” barrel. For some reason Alaskans are usually built shorter so I’d like to do that also. If I ever get a .50-110 built it’ll sport 26”.

Hey guys,

If one was to have a .50 Alaskan built with say a 22” barrel (round or hex) what diameter should it be at the muzzle and chamber region?

Also twist rate? The guy makes his own barrels in 1/8, 1/13, 1/15.

It’s a Fergusson action, although the maker wasn’t able to get a 10 start thread on his lathe so it’s a 4 start instead, just takes a couple extra rotations of the trigger guard instead of a single one.
Chambers cut for 160gr of 2F black powder and a .800 ball should weigh around 770gr.
