Hmm, maybe a 9mm case full of lead inside an inverted 40 case in front of a 44 case of powder

Re: Interesting .429 bullets.
I’m thinking loading head forward would make a heck of a solid wadcutter You have to load them with the base being the rear of it when using the empties as a bullet. If you load an empty cartridge base forward, the primer blows out of the primer pocket and leaves the cartridge-bullet stuck part way...

Re: Shoots low
Generally heavier bullets shoot higher. I’ve observed this more dramatically in revolvers than in autos, maybe because of the higher bore axis. There’s not much effective bullet weight range in a 380 auto, probably easier to file the front sight down to make it point higher.

Re: Scope suggestions for .22 bolt gun?
Burris made great compact scopes long ago, Leupold still does, Weaver is gone now but had a couple of nice looking scopes tailored for rimfires not long ago. The trend in scopes now is big tubes, big zoom ranges, tall turrets, and parallax correction; all of which add weight, length, cost and comple...

Re: XTP real ballistic coefficients
The 45 seems wider at the nose in proportion to its diameter than the 44 to me, thus a little less sleek. Also 44 bullets tend to be a longer in the nose than 45s, generally. A difference in .025 bc is pretty negligible even in high power rifle rounds. That said it is odd than even their 230 grain b...

Re: Hornady FTX coefficients- makes no sense
The problem is there is such a constraint on the overall length of a handgun bullet. That’s why the pointy ones are light for caliber. Also the pointy ones have less shank to make up for the longer ogive. That probably hurts bc more than having a blunt nose. Also you have to trim the brass way back ...

Could be a defect in the lamination. I have a late tang safety M77 in 30-06 with a factory laminated stock, never had any issues. Ruger will make it right. I’ve used their customer service twice. I agree with your line of thinking regarding appropriate optics for your 35. It is a shame about Leupold discontinuing its fixed power scopes. Maybe you can get a FX series 2.5x or 4x off EBay. Barring that, you may have to get a low power variable. Ironically rifles are getting shorter and scopes a...

Both! I have a pair of original Vaqueros and my dad’s Blackhawk. The Blackhawk with its adjustable sights is easier to accommodate different loads of various weights and power levels. I think something is wrong with the rifle. Slow loads should still group better than 18 inches at 50 yards. I think it could be readily made by a manufacturer, but I don’t think there is easy conversion for any existing models. This is primarily due to odd intermediate cartridge length. Re: New 30-30 Dies - Need Hunting Bullet Recommendations
Those 170 gr Speer bullets you are looking at have a pretty high ballistic coefficient for a flat nose. I think it would be a good choice for most anything a 30-30 is appropriate for. There’s a Nosler Partition 170 grain if you want something a bit tougher or Hornady FTX 160 grain if you want someth...

From those pics and velocities, one could assume the 270 grain Speer will likely not expand from a handgun, at least not in the medium they tested these in. That bullet seems pretty tough and some use it in 444 Marlin. The 240 xtp is obviously much softer

The 270 grain 44 feeds very smoothly through my Marlin and showed good accuracy. I don’t have any kills with it to report though. I would think it would at least be in the same league as the 300 grain XTP, maybe better I don’t know.

It actually makes more sense in that one can keep their grip and open the gate and start ejecting with their left. Once you are used to the other way though everything is backwards
