A new M70 costs at least $1200. Clean it really well and put it away. Be patient, the bolt and maybe other parts may show up. If not, you can take your time shopping around and getting what you need. That Winchester isn’t eating anything Of course it is worth pointing out that a new model 70 is the...

No, I have not seen it happen with my 45 acp revolver. I haven’t tried my taper crimped lead bullet loads yet. Some guys shoot 45 Super in these.

I think the Springfield version of the Hi Power is what he should look at. I have smallish hands and find the HP very ergonomic and the Springfield is even better with its grips than the Brownings I have handled. The Springfield holds 15 with its MecGar mags. I find both the Beretta 92 and CZ patter...

It actually makes more sense in that one can keep their grip and open the gate and start ejecting with their left. Once you are used to the other way though everything is backwards

The 44 Colt was developed for cartridge conversions of the Colt 1860 and intended to take heeled bullets. However the brass can be loaded with the now standard .429 bullets and be fired in 44 specials and magnum. The case is a bit shorter than a 44 special and has a smaller rim. It could make good p...

I don’t know but I would think it would be enough gun. It’s close to heavy bullet 30-06 specs, close to 444, 356, 358. It is not far from 338-06, my 338 RCM, 35 Whelan, 350 mag, the 9.3s and such which are considered fine. A guide might want more as he shoots when things are going badly.

It doesn’t make much difference to me in feel and some models look better with one or the other to me. I have both straight and PG stocked lever actions. Generally, I think straight stocks go with carbines/short rifles and PGs go with longer rifles. I tend to like a more open pistol grip even on bol...

44Shooter, I have not seen any warnings to avoid the hottest loads in a medium frame Ruger .41 magnum but I am certain that Ruger covered all their bases before releasing these revolvers. Considering their .480 Ruger and .454 Casull revolvers with "Carpenter" alloys used in their cylinder...

You need to go out and examine different makes. Work the bolt, and safety, check out how the bolt locks up and how the magazine system works. There are many similarities, but they are not all the same. Take your time and find out what you like. If you are just getting one, get exactly what you want....

Am I understanding that you are firing LR ammo with a WRF case sleeved around it? If so, how do you extract the sleeve from the cylinder? Do the two cases just stick together? I’m wondering if you can somehow make fixed (but removable) chamber inserts to allow chambering LR or the shorter cartridges...

Re: Is Reloading Getting Too Expensive to Consider?
I would say with that with recurrent ammo supply issues and resulting high prices, it is too expensive not to consider reloading. Yes we still need consumable supplies, but components have a degree of flexibility. Also you can keep making the same load. Factory loads are often discontinued, changed,...

That’s definitely lead shot from an earlier time. Do not take them waterfowling. I used these as a teen and they killed squirrels WAY OUT there (I bypassed the weaker Rabbit and Squirrel version). Should do fine on turkey too with the right choke.

I passed on a $600 one around 2005 and regretted it. Lever action prices have gone way up across the board since then. You don’t see B92s for sale that often. Well made, no added safeties, it probably a great buy assuming there are no mechanical problems

I have never seen a practical difference. I don’t buy the excessive freebore theory. Any bullet from a revolver has to clear the chamber, bridge the gap, and enter the forcing cone before it engages the rifling. If the ammo and the gun is decent, an extra tenth doesn’t matter. If it were a thing, wa...
