I have cresents on a 94 in 38-55, 1895's in 30-40 and 30-06 and an 1886 in 45/70. The 45/70 with hot loads is the only one that is the least bit harsh. For hunting use-- it would be unnoticable. I limit myself to 5 shot strings at the bench then switching guns and returning later for more with the 8...

I bought a carbine in 30-40, a carbine in 30-06 and the case colored takedown in 30-06.
The only one fired is the 30-06 carbine. It is very accurate and the smoothest lever gun I own. I would highly recommend one.

For my 50 alaskan-- I take a 535 grain woodleigh and pinch off the exposed tip with side cuts, then take some sandpaper and sand the profile to a flatpoint --- don't want a mag tube detonation on this baby!! :shock:

I put the leupold 2x8 on my 308 express. I wanted the silver color and a scope that was small enough it did not ruin the balance of the gun.

There is a special weaver set up for the 94 big bore for scope mount. I have a scope on my winchester big bore in 307. If your interested I'll look up the part numbers-- I bought an extra set as I figured they would not always be available and I have a NIB 94 timber carbine in .444 marlin.

Guys, I am in Pa. this week on business, stopped at a store on flegal rd in clearfield. they had both a remington 14 and 141 in 35 remington. both in very good condition. they also had 3 savage 99's on the rack. Pricing was fair $399. to $499. depending on the gun.

I have the Remington 121 that both my father and I learned to shoot on. Serial number around 2000 which dates it to the late teens. Still shoot it for small game and targets.

I'm not aware of any guiding service in Ohio. There are many "high fenced" reserves that offer guide service, but you really do need that for deer.

I actually bought the takedown with the idea of sending it to Turnbull got rechambering to 50-110. It is so pretty, that I can't do it. I have thought about a Turnbull case finish on the reciever and funrnitue and the Winchester horse and rider in gold on the reciever. :D

I purchased one march of 2007. The wood is fantastic as well as the finish. I purchased mine for $ 1690.00 with sales tax included. I have not had the heart to shoot it.
