The original question involved the 44 SPL vs 9mm. If you do not need to penetrate anything much (auto glass, car doors, etc.) the 44 hands down. It will also serve to protect blued finishes. I use
it on Parker, Fox and LC Smith goose-turkey guns.

And on an 1885 HW SS in 45-60. It works better than imagined.
