I have several boxes of the Barnes originals in 250 grains. I keep them for use on heavy game generally for use in a 300 H+H or 300 Remington Utla mag. But, I think they would penetrate well in the 06 and expand well at ranges to 150 yards.

Mine is a marlin cowboy done by Turnbull restoration. Heavier 26 inch barrel, decelerator pad added, williams 5d added and action smoothed. I'm happy with it, they do great work and delivered mine before the date promised.

Other than a 308me for which no cases were available, I always fire my own manufactured ammo in a new or new to me firearm. By the way, for the same $900.00 --- you could go to the 50 alaskan. Which gives a bit more performance and has a bit better bullet selction available.

A turnbull built. 1886 takedown with 32 inch octogon barrel, 3X wood and color casehardened finish. A gold inlay on the non-loading gate side of the Winchester Horse and rider. Chambered with front halves in 50-110, 45-90 and 475 Turnbull. You did say cost was not a consideration ---- correct??

Depends on where I am. Here in Ohio, the local processor charges $125.00. In my kentucky hunting area they do it for $45.00. For over $100., I'll do it. For $45., I let them do it.

I use varget under a barnes 180 grain xlc at the moment. 2700fps and great bullet performance.

I bought a repro 1895 carbine in 30-40, as I'm shooting the 30-06 version. the 30-40 will remain in the factory carton unfired.

I have looked at a puma several times as the concept interests me. However, the end product in the stores have been poorly finished and crude. The stain on the stocks almost black----- so I just went 50 alaskan on a marlin 1895

You forgot the double digit trigger pull! A friend got one in 270. It shoots 4 1/2 inch patterns and has about a 12 pound trigger pull. Looks like a nice boat anchor to me--- buy the marlin!

I have a B numbered 1895 under sn 2000. I bought it used from a neighbor for $75.00 in the early 80's. It was my first lever gun and I still use it regularly. I like it fine, wouldn't want to part with it.

O' bummer yards signs out number McCain 8 to 1 in my neighborhood and I live in a 80% Republican district. I does not bode well for McCain in Central Ohio. Cleveland, Cinncinati, Dayton and Youngstown are heavily democratic areas.

If you are using the tsx, try cleaning your bore with barnes copper cleaner. Copper bullets can act wacky if there is any lead in the bore. Barnes always recommends .050 off the lands as was mentioned and the copper bullets do have a longer length and larger bering surface as mentioned. You may have...

actually, my father collection was quite large. This particlar gun does not have sentimental value. The remington 22 pump that his dad bought in 1917 that my dad, my self and my brother all learned to shoot on. That one is priceless! thanks guys!
