Re: More bullet sizing/lube questions.....
Before loading too many of them I'd try a couple to see if they chamber properly. In mine I have to size to 0.310 max and any larger results in sticky chambering. Every rifle is different so best to check what works in yours before loading a few hundred of them.

Re: OT - need a new buttstock for Win 1885
Thanks for the feedback. The rifle, which is fitted with a curved steel buttplate, appears to have been dropped on the point of the toe and as you can imagine the force being concentrated in that one spot has really wreaked havoc. A piece at the toe of the stock has been chipped off (easy fix) but m...

Corbin and CH-4D make dies to bump up bullets. They wont be cheap but will do what you want to do. If its only bumping up a cast pill a few thou then one of them makes a set to fit a normal O frame press.

OT : Crescent buttplates and large cal rifles
I am about to take possession of a Win 1885 in 50/90 that's fitted with a crescent buttplate. It certainly looks the part but I expect it is going to re-define pain from recoil. If there is enough interest in a DG bullet designed to function in a stock 1895 in 405, then it might be worthwhile asking whether Woodleigh would entertain making a run of their new Hydrostatic solids just to suit the 405. While the 348 Win is undoubtedly a good cartridge, personally I doubt it will make a major come back. Re: 38-55 - 375 Winchester
As 1886 said the OAL is the same. While 38/55 brass is somewhat thinner and hence provides a bit more capacity, 375 brass is stronger and is my preferred option for heavy loads. The main advantage I see in using 38/55 brass is that a lot of moulds were made to suit the 38/55 and you can achieve the ...

Re: CAst bullets in the BLR .450 marlin
One reason why its not such good idea to push cast bullets beyond 40k is that accuracy with cast is tricky at high pressure. You need to tailor the hardness of the alloy to the pressure of the load and the harder the alloy the less expansion you have and a higher likelihood of having the bullet shat...

I believe Mic's 510 Kodiak Express is just a 50-110 case loaded to higher pressure that modern 1886 rifles and Marlin's that Mic converts can handle. He puts a very slight shoulder on the case so it can't be loaded into an antique 50-110 rifle for safety purposes. Furthermore, while Mic started mak...
