If you are referring to the big safety button on the side of the receiver, then yes. The early models did not have this feature.

Everything before 1992 did not have a safety. So, you have almost 10 years worth of 307 and 356's....1983-92 without the feature. I ordered my Big Bore that year and nearly fainted when I saw the Frankenstien bolt. But, it can be overcome, as can the rebounding hammer.

The second rifle from the top - the scoped one just below the Cold Steel Bowie - is a pre-safety .356 BB94AE.

Thanks but I'd prefer to locate one in Oz. They are around and do come up every now and again.

I have to say to me those high comb stocks do look out of character on a levergun.

They do, but they line up well with a scope.
Kind regards,

I had, in 1999, a .444 Timber Carbine, after I had a .444 94BB Carbine in 1998 (which IIRC was Winchester's 1st .444).

I know the Timber Carbine had the crossbolt - but I can't remember for sure if the 94BB Carbine did or not.
I think it did.

Maybe someone here kept the timelines for such at Winchester. Millerski ?

Possibly, though I've never seen one. IIRC the 94 was chambered in 444 in the mid 80s and the crossbolt was added in the early 90s.

My recollection is that the 444 was introduced mid-90's, and was the last of the caliber offerings. It came after the addition of the CB safety in 92......99.9% positive of that. So I would say no....no non-CB 444's in the classic slab sided bb94. But, my brain ain't what it used to be so take it for what it's worth.....
