Re: What a mess
It is like this Slick. When this forum was first organized, most, in fact nearly all, of the regular posters were refugees from an older and much beloved website that had been reorganized along the lines you mentioned. The original Sixgunner site used a format that had no separate categories, and ev...

Not because he's black - many Americans, myself included, would vote for Colin Powell or Condoleezza Rice in a heartbeat. I'm pretty sure they're black - they're also competent. He's not electable because he's a bad liar. He lies as much as Bill Clinton (say 10 Hail Marys, wash mouth out with soap)...

Re: ATTN....Public Range Users....Firearm Theft Technique
Oh, and remember the Miami shootout guys who murdered a guy who was out shooting. It pays to be careful. That incident has been on my mind since I started reading this thread. I can't remember the last time I went to change, repair, or move targets without at least a sixgun on my hip, and generally...

Re: Definition of a levergun
I don't discount box magazine fed leverguns! My favorite levergu IS a box fed BLR. It is just that when someone mentions lever-guns, most of us, including me, visualize a Winchester or Marlin tube fed carbine. How about you?rjohns94 wrote: why discount the magazine fed winchesters, brownings, savage?

Let's try this definition on for size: Lever-Action Rifle -- While in it's broadest sense the term "Lever-Action Rifle" can include such lever actuated single-shot rifles as falling-block or tilting-block actions such as Sharps, Ballard, Martini-Henry, Ithaca, Spencer, and Ruger rifles, th...

Re: WOT: Need some advice Me, going back to school?
Sorry to hear about your setback and the kid's busted noggin. Don't give up though. Perhaps the time is not yet ripe to chase that degree. But the time will come. In May of 2007, my wife got her PhD. When she finished, we did not owe a penny. We had some beans and rice times but we got her through h...

Re: WOT: Need some advice Me, going back to school?
I haven't read all the replies, so I might be repeating what someone else has said. In my experience, on-line classes are tougher than actual classes. Unless you have a good instructor, committed to actually teaching rather than just posting assignments and receiving them, you won't get a lot out of...

Who said anything about a million armed people? Can't a million law-abiding peaceable citizen meet in Washington DC to demonstrate for their God-given rights? I seem to remember many tens of thousands assembling for MLK's speech. Or how about the "way less than" a million man march? How a...

Please review the events of June 17, 1932. Then you'll know what would happen. Posse Comitatus does not apply in the District of Clumbia. :| You beat me to the punch! Re: OT - Time for Gamekeeper, GK jr. and Nath to pack up!
What else can you expect when the Archbishop of Canterbury tells the world that Sharia Law (Muslim religious Law) should over rule secular law in Britain? Sorry to say it, and no offense intended to Gamekeeper, but stuff like this, added on to the anti-knife laws, and the anti-gun, anti-hunting sent...

Re: Not a Lever- Pedersoli Rolling Block .40-65
Is it a .40-65 Ballard, or a .40-65 Winchester? Doesn't really matter, all I can do about either caliber is quote Cartridges of the World. I can wax eloquent on the Rolling Block though. Rolling Blocks have only one failing, extraction is rather weak. The action is incredibly strong. Back in the lat...

Re: Humor: Daddy sleeps naked
That actually happened to the father of my Mom's best friend when I was about 9. Mr. Pittman was not naked, but the back gate on his long johns had popped open. When his old birddog Belle stuck her nose to his rump, he cut loose with both barrels of an old LC Smith and killed 32 chickens. He had to ...

Re: 45-70 reloading questions
I've had good luck using IMR 4198 in .45-70's. Forgive me for not sharing the load, but it is over max listed for 195 grain bullets in the latest edition of the Speer Manual. I was not overly worried because I was using cast bullets and the load was for a jacketed bullet.

Reminds me of a bumpersticker that reflects my view: "If fishing involved firearms, I'd be fishing" or something like that. It's a real man that can pull off wearing a kilt! The way I fish does involve firearms! And just because a feller is wearing a kilt doesn't mean he ain't packing iro...

I've been called Doc Hudson since I was a kid, and it kinda spread when I was in my 20's, and really started spreading when the Internet came along.
