OT - Colt SAA quick coffee can range report.

Post by cshold »

I got a quick chance to fire five rounds out of the new Colt SAA Saturday.

Picked up a small (25 round) box of .38 spl’s in 125 gr. Hard cast.
They are factory reloads made locally for SASS at a very good $.
Mild to shoot and they even make some smoke when fired.
Thought that was kinda cool. 8)

Anyway as I said, I just had enough time to shoot a cylinder full.
Put a large size Maxwell house can out about 25 yrds.
From the sitting position with my back against a tree, my forearms on my knees,Right hand on the grip, left hand cupped over the right, I slow fired five rounds at the can.

Walked out to the can not knowing what to expect. (thought I did see it move a couple of times :? )
Well there they were five holes in the front of the can with five matching exit holes.
Not a real tight group, but I was quite pleased. (very much a newbie with hand guns :D )

Now I just need to get the time to devote to doing some serious target shooting.

I have had my Colt SAA.45 5 1/2 inch since 1959 and still think it's the best sixgunthat I have ever owned or shot. Just keep buning lots of powder in it, you'll enjoy it more all the time.

Thanks JerryB,

There is just something about owning the real deal.

Maybe it’s the contentment in knowing that anything less than a real Colt SAA would not have quenched that little thirst deep down inside. :D
