Brought my Marlin 44 P to Florida this season. The gun has a set of Ghost Ring sights and a cross bolt safety eliminator. Have had it for about 13 years and really had fun with it on this pig hunt.
It was a guided hunt where we stalked this pig for about 45 minutes. Can't see too good now days but was able to put 2 shots about 2 inches apart in his right shoulder at 40 yards. That'll work for me.
The guide loved my Marlin and was hinting around about me selling it. That's not going to happen.
I was always a little worried about that ported barrel and usually wear electronic ear muffs. I just happened to forget them on this hunt so I was concerned about some hearing damage.
Actually, I shot it twice and never noticed the noise. My ears weren't even ringing afterwards.
Carried a Sig 239 in .357 Sig as a backup since two years ago one of these wild hogs almost killed a dog we were using. This year we hunted with no dog. Was a little worried when the guide said we were going to stalk the hog but it all turned out OK.
