No choke, cylinder bore. On some of Gates' discussions he warns that you have to slug your barrel. Apparently there is a wide variation in actual bore diameters. That bottom slug is full bore and designed for rifled barrels, but can run in cylinder bores that are the right diameter and free of constrictions. That's how I understand it. I should buy some of his ammo just 'in case'.

Hard to find a companion hand gun to shoot 870 gr 73 cal slugs tho ..... :lol:

This thread finally developed into what I had hoped it would. I feel that my work is almost done - very gratified.

I've been talked out of even thinking about a 460 Levergun - sticking with the 44 and 45/70.
