OT - I need to brag!
Last week my son's home room teacher sent an e-mail to my wife asking that we attend the 6th grade program as he (Y2K here) would be receiving an "important award". We weren't supposed to tell him anything about it, and she wouldn't let on what it was. Yesterday we attended the program, as it was their last full day of school (a half day today and tomorrow then summer vacation - for him!).
Y2K was honored eight (8) separate times during the program! Some were group awards - his being a member of the state championship archery team, being on the "All-A Honor Roll" all year long, being part of a very small group that never missed a homework assigment all year long, and being his home room Representative to the Student Council. He also won three academic awards, one each for Science, Social Studies and Language Arts. But the "big one" was the final award - the "Mustang Award" (the school's mascot). This award is given to one student in each home room that demonstrates not only academic excellence, but is a friend and help to his or her peers, teachers, staff, school and community. In short, it is given to the best individual student that year, and Y2K won it!!!
Then to top it all, later that day his sister won two (2) awards for second grade. Each student wins one award - it is second grade, after all, and they want them all to feel special. But the teacher made an annoucement that she had to honor two students who excelled academically, and never "moved their ladybug" all year long (an indication of misbehavior) - something that had never happened in all her years of teacher (again - second graders, even the best usually mess up at least one day). My daughter won that award!
Yes, Mom and Dad are very proud of our children!!!

Congratulations to all. It is always nice to hear about the good kids. You and your wife have a right to be proud parents.

I've noticed you've been doing a LOT of bragging lately. Frankly, I'm getting tired of it...
Can't you try and fit it all in one post?
CONGRATULATIONS!

Re: OT - I need to brag!
Ysabel great to hear. Congrats to all. But according to all the experts your kids should be mean and hateful, living in a house with all those guns. Aint it great to prove them wrong.

Oh, that's too funny. Sorry, Jay, I know it's at your expense, but it's still funny. On a serious note, congratulations, you've both done a great job.game keeper wrote:Jay, many congratulations to both your kids, boy, they must have a smart mom!
