Y2K was honored eight (8) separate times during the program! Some were group awards - his being a member of the state championship archery team, being on the "All-A Honor Roll" all year long, being part of a very small group that never missed a homework assigment all year long, and being his home room Representative to the Student Council. He also won three academic awards, one each for Science, Social Studies and Language Arts. But the "big one" was the final award - the "Mustang Award" (the school's mascot). This award is given to one student in each home room that demonstrates not only academic excellence, but is a friend and help to his or her peers, teachers, staff, school and community. In short, it is given to the best individual student that year, and Y2K won it!!!
Then to top it all, later that day his sister won two (2) awards for second grade. Each student wins one award - it is second grade, after all, and they want them all to feel special. But the teacher made an annoucement that she had to honor two students who excelled academically, and never "moved their ladybug" all year long (an indication of misbehavior) - something that had never happened in all her years of teacher (again - second graders, even the best usually mess up at least one day). My daughter won that award!
Yes, Mom and Dad are very proud of our children!!!
