telephone lines, open wire circuits on 10 pin alley arms [ a real bear to work on] .
rr7's saloon pics made me think of this, maybe a slightly larger town.
mostly gone now, you might see something similar along some rr tracks.

ours was 4666 but only for a short time until they had to add a 3 digit exchange.

I pity the fellow that had to untangle whatever popped loose after a wind storm.

Wouldn't want to be that guy. I'm not old but when I was a kid we had a party line: a regular seven digit number, but a party line nonetheless. Maybe it was just because we were po.

is my job. those open wires look bad, but a buried 900 pair cable, that a backhoe has had it's way
with, is just as disheartening to drive up on, as any aerial damage.
