Political - Oaths of Office

Post by J Miller »

A friend of mine sent me this in an email today. He put it so well that I thought I should share it. It is my opinion that our country has been infiltrated and taken over by criminals. Never mind the socialists, or the liberals, or the communists in the government; from the president on down they are bunch of criminals that need to be removed from office and imprisoned.
Unfortunately I do not believe there is enough honest people left in the government to bring this to a stop.

Joe
A little food for thought. Here are the oaths of office for a few
offices...

President
http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/pihtml/pioaths.html
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the
office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my
ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United
States."

Vice-pres and other government officers
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vice_Presi ... ted_States
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the
Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and
domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I
take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose
of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of
the office on which I am about to enter.

Arizona governor, judges, etc
http://www.azleg.state.az.us/FormatDocu ... ocType=ARS
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support the Constitution of
the United States and the Constitution and laws of the State of Arizona,
that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same and defend them
against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and that I will faithfully
and impartially discharge the duties of the office of (insert office
here) according to the best of my ability, so help me God (or so I do
affirm).

OK, now lets go back and re-read a few line from each...

For the President:
...preserve, protect and defend the Constitution...

For other federal officers:
...support and defend the Constitution...

For Arizona's officers:
...support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution
and laws of the State of Arizona...

Now for a side trip to good ol' Webster's...

Preserve:
to keep safe from injury, harm, or destruction

Protect:
to cover or shield from exposure, injury, damage, or destruction

Defend:
to drive danger or attack away from
to maintain or support in the face of argument or hostile criticism

Support:
to promote the interests or cause of
to uphold or defend as valid or right
to argue or vote for

OK, now I'll be the first one to admit I'm not the smartest person in
the world. I'm just a dumb ol' Arizona boy. But I think when someone
takes an oath to defend something and immediately starts to tear it down
they're not only a liar but they're a thief as well. Because they stole
every vote they got.

I agree, we do have our vote though and have a rare opportunity this time around to vote for our Constitution (and the guy delivering the message) who has championed it's message the past 30 years and NEVER voted contrary to it. I'm pretty certain four more years of ignoring our founding fathers wisdom will really put the hurt on us. On the bright side, maybe people will wake up when it happens. People can lie, voting records don't. Thanks for sharing this.

I think most would support holding them responsible for violating their oaths of office. The problem is most dont realize thats whats whats happening & since theres NEVER a prosecution they never hear about it.
People are too lazy to think for the most part & just go along for the ride.
Another issue is the Gov't runs the federal Law Enforcement agencies so theres little chance they will choose to investigate themselves. Sure would be nice for the Feds to take some initiative & just arrest people for violating oaths of office but I guess its asking to much for folks to do a job without being ordered to do it.
