I am just relaxing in front of the PC, lookin through the topics on the forum and see the post about "Savage 99 questions".
I thought, "this might be worth lookin' at, Chuck (my father in law) gave me those two 99s before he passed".
So I go to the site recommended by casastahle, and punch in the serial number of the beautiful little, straight stocked, high gloss blue, 22" take down, 303. And to my amazement, it comes up with a 1909 year of manufacture!!! Whaa Hoo!!
This thing is in such incredible shape for being 100 years old. I still remember the day (about 35 years ago) the widowed neighbor lady walked across the yard and gave it to him, wrapped in a Levi pant leg.
Thank you for giving me such a great answer to a question I didn't know I had!
Happy shooting to ya,
OkR
