OT - Rave - Cylindersmith
I recently sent off 4 cylinders to the CylinderSmith.
I sent a Super BlackHawk in .44 mag, a BlackHawk in .45LC, a BlackHawk in .45 ACP and a cylinder from a Taurus DA in .357. I had no way to check them before sending them, but felt they would be helped by having the throats reamed to the proper dimension. As it turned out, 3 out of 4 needed attention. They were reamed to the proper dimension and a refund was issued for the 1 cylinder that was okay. All cylinders were returned in seperate baggies and lubed up with a small dab of grease to cover the newly exposed metal. Turn around was just a little over a week from Oklahoma to New York. I am extremely satisfied with their service and wanted to share with the other forum members...

Just curious, but which cylinder did not need to be reamed?

The .44mag cylinder from a Super BlackHawk Bisley. He said it was .431+ all the way around.

Re: OT - Rave - Cylindersmith
Now all I need to do is find a place that can shrink the throats . I always wanted a full set of pin gages and now that I have them, I can see why some wanted to shoot and some didn't. The foreign manufacturers are getting much better on throats but the the domestics sometimes aren't so good. My 624-3 is a fat .432 and they darn near take a 433. No wonder I never could get it to shoot like some other S&Ws that I have. I'd sure rather have small throats that can be fixed than fat ones. Thanks for the link though. If I ever find a small one, I'll know where to go.
