The reason? I always thought it would be nice to have the hypothetical ultimate 'combo' of
- a long-action 'rifle'
- a short-action 'carbine'
- a single action 'hunting' revolver
- a double action 'protection' revolver
One of the 'glitches' in the little game is the fact that some of my favorite chamberings don't share cases or even bullet diameters - you can't just stock a ".45 cal" bullet if you have a .45 Colt and a .45-70! (I know, stock both, and you really need different types of bullets anyway, and all that...)
For the 'really big' or even bottleneck round, I just picked some interesting ones; nostalgia or popularity not really a factor.
Anyway, in case the weather is bad where you are, and there aren't any other threads to while away your time, here's some 'families' of cartridges I churned up:

For Christmas, I want a lever action rifle in .452 JBX (a .452'd .45-70), a lever action carbine in .460 S&W, a big SA revolver in .454 Casull, and a derringer in .45 Colt...
