POLITICS - WHAT IS YOUR POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY?
There's a test you can take to get a general idea of your political philosophy. I'm a "Moderate Populist". I don't know if that's good or bad, but it's who I am. I took it three times to make sure!
Here's the link:

Some of the topics are misleading. Just click on the topic and it will show you more details. Especially these, "Make taxes more progressive", "Support and expand free trade", and "Replace US Troops in Iraq". So, be careful. You might accidentally give a liberal democrat's answer!
Good luck!

Sadly, "Political Correctness" is the most powerful religion in America, and it has ruined our society.

Is this the libertarian test?
Re: WHAT IS YOUR POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY?
I don't think so. I found it on a site called "VoteMatch".

Well they say populist leaning conservative.
Bob Barr is apparently my man but I am not voting for a non contender.

Re: WHAT IS YOUR POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY?
Indicated the same for me, and I'm not either. Even if he were a contender, there are a couple issues that are important to me that we differ on. I'm staying with "Palin 2012".Old Savage wrote:Bob Barr is apparently my man but I am not voting for a non contender.

What's sad for me is that he was my best match, and we are only about a 30% match!

Re: WHAT IS YOUR POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY?
Moderate Libertarian, Sounds right.
Re: WHAT IS YOUR POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY?
Didn't work for me. I'm rather doubtful of this test's ability to devine an accurate outcome, primarily because they claim that one's views on the absolute right to own a gun does not figure into political philosophy.
IMO, and in my case, the test was waaaay off.

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.
History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

Re: WHAT IS YOUR POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY?
I took the test twice and put difference answers in each time. Not drastically different, but different just the same.
The little red dot indicated I lean toward moderate populist, and the expanded description below seemed wildly off base on what my my views are according to the scores posted. Now, I'm not going to claim I'm not a moderate populist, because I'm not really sure what that is and it sounds like some made-up BS to me, but like I said, the expanded description was just way off.
And then there was the gun thing...

THIS one is a very enlilghtening quiz as well, which also gets away from the obsolete "left-right" limitations:

Lots of good info there. Thanks! According to this one, I'm a Centrist-Libertarian. I think I'm getting the idea that I am all over the place, but it averages in the middle! Maybe I'm a Liberal Conservative with Populistic Libertarian tendencies!AJMD429 wrote:THIS one is a very enlilghtening quiz as well, which also gets away from the obsolete "left-right" limitations:

Re: POLITICS - WHAT IS YOUR POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY?
what is this populist term? a new buzzword for the 2000's?
sounds like a political party from the 1700's. The Federalists vs. the Populists, with the Federalists promising "No New Tarriffs".

[WHAT IS YOUR POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY?]
I didn't look at the link/test(?), since my political philosophy is fairly simple:
IF THEY ARE ANTI-GUN, I AM ANTI-THEM !
Nothing else, and I mean NOTHING, means as much to me - because w/o guns, I truely believe we will become enslaved.

55% - Barr
50% - McCain
18% - obama
I've been wanting Palin to become more known and have been backing her for nearly the past year - so I'm obviously voting McCain / Palin.
I had planned to vote Ron Paul (via write-in) because I thought the democrats would be WAY ahead in the polls... But then I never in my wildest dreams thought that McCain would be smart enough to recognise that Palin was the best choice out there for VP.

53% Barr
50% Mcain
13% BHO
Probably pretty close. I disagree with them both on different issues. I don't know where the 13% for BHO sneaked in, probably two disagreements for diametretic opposite reasons.
Good quiz.

Re: POLITICS - WHAT IS YOUR POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY?
Yep - if someone wants to take away the last bastion of hope a desparate citizenry could turn to when all other means failed, you have to ask yourself WHY any rational person, given the LONG track record of humanity and abuse by tyrants, that anyone would relinquish that freedom at all, regardless of the 'reason.'Pete44ru wrote:[WHAT IS YOUR POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY?]

Where your Personal score meets your Economic score on the grid below is your political philosophy. Based on the above score, you are a Liberal-Leaning Populist .
I also ask, What is a Populist?
60% Bob Barr.
That doesn't suprise me, I have voted Libertarian for the last 4 Presidential elections.

Well,
I didn't come anywhere close to even 50% agreement with anyone on either overall or individual category. I suggest we compost them all and start from scratch.

Re: POLITICS - WHAT IS YOUR POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY?
http://www.friesian.com/quiz.htm shows an explanatory chart that shows their definition of a "populist" to be an authoritarian (wants to regulate everything) as opposed to a Libertarian. Others may use other definitions, but essentially all that is "halfway between" left and right is not the same.cavemike wrote: I also ask, What is a Populist?
