Shout out for Freedom Arns customer service

Post by Scott Tschirhart »

I sent a safe queen Modrl 83 back to Freedom Arms last week. A previous owner had filed down the fixed front sight too much.

I paid them to for a new front sight and reduce the trigger pull to a manageable weight. They replaced all internal springs.. They slso installed an updated safety bar and other internal parts free of charge.

I shipped it last Thursday. They are shipping it back to me today.

That’s outstanding service!

This last August I called Freedom Arms for a different front sight for my Model 97. It arrived in the mail later that week. They have always been great doing business with.

Jim, I did the same thing. The front sight blade on my model 97 was too wide for the notch in the rear sight, filling it almost completely. I didn't want to open the rear sight so I ordered a red fiber optic sight (my first) which provides plenty of space on either side of the sight blade. The new one is .1" rather than the original .125" wide and I shot it much better when I took it out on Monday.

After I finished my transaction, I told the nice lady on the phone to give my best to Bob.

She said, I can put you through to him if you like…..so I told Bob how pleased I was with the service I received.

The revolver arrived today. Reasonable charges for things that were not warranty issues.

New front sight looks great and action is much improved. Feels brand new.

I need a 454 Casual in my life --- would probably only fire 45 Colt spec loads through it , -- but i love those revolvers !

There recently was discussion about "soul-less" guns, the ARs in particular. I have a couple of 7 1/2" Freedom Arms model 83s, a .454 and a .44 mag. I regard them as outstanding tools but they are pretty soul-less. My 5 1/2" model 97 is much better in that category but not as soulful as a Colt or a well-tuned Ruger single action.

I know what you mean. A Colt or USFA just looks and feels so good to me.

But, FAs are fantastic machines.

Fantastic machines indeed and I take great deal of pride in them. They are in a class of their own.

I'll be utilizing their customer service soon, I let what is apparently a broken firing pin turn in to an idiot in action. Hopefully doesn't cost me too much, but I guess stupidity should hurt a little. Depending on their verdict, I may have a 45 Colt cylinder fit. It's a big heavy shootin iron, but it's also my favorite.

I shot it a bunch on Saturday and I’m very pleased with the height.

Puts my .45 Colts loads on the steel plate at 50 yards. Windage is perfect.

Mine was putting 340gr LBT WFNPB and a 325gr bullet from one of my Mountain Moulds blocks centered up pretty good on a 10" plate at 50 yards yesterday, the RCBS 45-270SAA at 285 grains were hitting about 1 1/2" lower at the same range, all bullets were in the 1100FPS neighborhood.

Sounds like a very useful velocity for those bullets. I could very easily live with that .45-270SAA for all my needs.

I have not purchased a Freedom Arms. If I do, it will be a .454 caliber. Loads in the heavy .45 Colt range for a Ruger Blackhawk would be enough for me.
