Thanks Jim for that tutorial. My Rossi .357 does just like you described yours. I have to jiggle the lever a little for .357's. but it

I learned something or I am confused about the Model 55. I have never seen a model 55 but was aware of them. So is he saying

I watched the first part on PBS the other night. I enjoyed it very much, plus I learned a few things too.
Those piles of Bison bones and skulls were amazing. On the other hand it was a very dark period of the US history.

Looks like that 3 F is bumping the bullet pretty good. I was thinking ( I know it hurts sometimes :D ) that the Rossi 44-40s had .429-.430 bores like
the 44 mag. I have not slugged mine and it shoots the .430 Hornady XTP really well with 2400 powder.
Have you slugged your barrel?

I didn't know black pepper would stop bleeding, but I have used as a radiator stop leak. First time I saw an old timer do that I thought he was crazy. It is not a
