Re: OT. SideXSides, Doves, Slugs and Ruined Barrels
My first day of hunting - 22 years ago - was for doves, A day I'll always remember. The gun used was my Grandmothers 20 ga. side-by-side LC Smith field grade. I still have the gun but only gets used on special occasions - hopefully the day will come when my 4 year old son or his twin sister will tot...

OT - New pair of boots - what brand??
OK - I am in the market for a new pair of leather boots. Not really for hard core hunting - just knocking around the house, doing outside chores, and wearing around town on the weekends. I am leaning towards a pair of work/wellington leather Red Wings pull-ons. I never owned Red Wings, but I think t...

Mine was on a Winchester 9422 about a month after they said they were shutting down the plant. I actually walked into the gunshop to get a copy of his FFL to send out for one for $350 - I asked "how much" and he said $200 - I bought it on the spot - near mint late 70's version - no checker...

At 30 yards max - I would be going with 180gr XTP. I think the 158's would probably open up alittle more, but I like to place my bets on penetration - a lead hard-cast would be close in the running also.
