Re: My Bowen guns have arrived.

Nice, I had Brownells forcing cone kit years ago it did a beautiful job . I did a number of Colts and repro Colts. Ended up selling it and now I wish I had it back . I need to cut my Police Positive right now.

The bore is shiney but has a few pitted areas. I believe it will be a fine shooter. I always examine fired cases and the five shot had a deep dent/ drag mark at 4 o'clock.Got a good look and right side extractor cut at chamber was dented up into chamber mouth. Used the chamber swage and stoned the c...

There was a .014 gap at top half of stock , those uneven pressure probably caused the breaks/crackd. Set up and adjusted the angle took a skim cut now it fits flush with back of frame.

Good price , AWA Purchased ASM in Italy which made at time closest copy of Colt SAA. the AWA parts were sent to USA fir final work and genuine bone charcoal color case . Colt sued them for name PEACEKEEPER and ultimately they went out of buisness.

They are 12-28 but they were designed before industry standards. Some variations exist. I would polish the screw down to Winchester diameter. Try it . If its still too tight buy an adjustable die to chase the screw until it screws in easily. Do NOT modify the Winchester receiver. Another option is b...

This rifle is the bones of an original short rifle. Very very rare. Takedown in itself only 1500-1600 made. 25-20 even rarer. There are two options. The finish wear appears all the way around with concentric scratches. Consistant with steady rest use. My guess barrel was left on frame .

Definatly cut , somewhat rough chamfer to crown but the giveaway is the steady rest wear on the area in front of sight.
That is a rare gun I'd be on the lookout for an original uncut barrel . But until then just shoot it.

Takedowns in the 1892 are pretty rare , my guess in 25-20 even rarer. I saw one in as new condition at an old gunshop.
Owner wanted $1250 which looking back I should have bought it.

It's definatly an original deluxe short rifle but Im fairly certain barrel and tube were cut again. Close up of muzzle and front sight may help

Re: 1892 25-20 take down carbine

The .745 dimension tells me someone cut it. Heavy barrels were not an option that I've seen or read about in 1892.
That buttplate is the hard rubber deluxe with Widows peak.

Im betting it was an original short rifle that's been shortened further due to damage .

Barrel may be cut but it does have short forend usually on short rifles. Looks like it was an original deluxe takedown at one time.
