Re: If you like Old S&W........

Mine is in the low four digits. Lockup is decent. A little rotational and fore and aft movement. Seen much worse. Always read they should be shot with black only. I don’t have any Russian brass and my dies are Sp/mag. Like I said it will chamber even a 300 grain magnum jhp. I don’t see why I couldn’...

Re: For you fellers that like Charter Arms guns

As a kid around 11 or so, I saw my daddy take a shot at at pigeon sitting on top of a tobacco barn with an Undercover . I’m guessing at least 40 but probably closer to 50 yards. The bird crumpled at the shot. A truly spectacular shot from a cheap belly gun. Thirty some years later that 38 was stolen...

Re: A Good Hunter.......And Shot.

If I got an invitation to an elk hunt, a 357 rifle would be near the end of the list of arms I would chose. In perspective though, the range was fairly short with a bullet designed for controlled expansion and penetration in game. It’s not like he just grabbed some random defense JHPs off the shelf....

Those prices aren’t relative to anything. A Ruger produced Marlin not worth $2000, or even $1500. You can get a Colt Python or Anaconda for $1500. Or a Supergrade M70. Or a high end Kimber bolt rifle or 1911. Ridiculous is right

Re: Your first (and I hope only) accidental discharge

I remember a decocking of a Colt 380 that sent a bullet safely to the ground in front of my target. Countless times with air guns seeing what it would do but nothing dangerous. The scariest was after dry firing a 45 Auto N frame. I loaded the revolver to put it away as my defense gun. Somehow the mu...

So just another 9mm pistol claiming to be the latest and greatest. 🥱 The subcompact single action dedicated nine has been done before by Sig, Kimber, Springfield. Double stack micros have recently been done by many. This is a first pairing of both trends. This pistol reminds me of the Kimber Micro ...

No the 30-06 was replaced by 7.62x51/308 Winchester for services rifles and machine guns long ago. It had a good run though from 1906 to the Vietnam era.

A 3 to 4 inch barrel on whichever frame size suits you. I like S&W but am open to Colt, Kimber, and Ruger too. A 3 to 3 1/2 inch J frame or SP101 would be very handy and versatile. A larger frame gives you more shots than five if that’s important to you.

So I found some scope mount screws I held on to and put in a torx head with a similar shank length. Honestly if you have a rifle configuration the rebore is the best and most economical way to go. JES has a very good national reputation. You rifle would look the same except having a shiny new bore and a new chambering marking of course. If you have a carbine a replacement will work. Changing a rif...

I have the stocks and mag off. The hanger is empty on the right. I should have some 6-48 screws tucked away somewhere to try. I’d rather have something in there. The hanger isn’t very tight in the dovetail. It seems cinching down on just one side wouldn’t be a good idea

How important is a forend cap screw?

This summer I bought a Marlin 444 with a missing for-end cap screw. Now that I disassembled it to give a thorough cleaning (surface rust removal), it seems like having only one screw might affect the bedding relationship of the barrel and fore-end. Is it important to have a screw on each side? Where...

I think at some point in velocity and rotational force an unjacketed bullet may come apart in flight. I have read of this in very frangible varmints bullets at very high velocity. I think it's worth a try in your carbine though. I don't have high hopes in something like a 3006

Hornady lists their 180 lead FP with Unique 5.5-8.0 grains. 700-950 fps. Their 180 XTP stops at 7.5 for 900. This is in a 3" Bulldog. I would be very comfortable with 7-8 grains with your bullet in most any 44SP. I intend to load about 6 grains of Unique under soft 240s. Nothing fancy just a factory...

I peep down the bore if possible and center an object about 50 yards away and move my reticle to the center of said object. This will usually get you on paper at 100. Quite a handsome rendition of the classiest gun ever designed for 9x19. I was expecting a higher MRSP as well. The upgrades are quite practical without detracting from the original look. A 13 shot 40 S&W would be the icing on the cake. And an extra 357 Sig barrel. Ok I will stop now

That’s the single stack? No but my mom has a Ladysmith 3913. A single stack 9 that is a pretty solid pistol

I like 40 also. My Firestar is a tiny pistol that delivers a thump. I like 45 acp better but I think 40 is a great police cartridge and a good choice for self defense.
