Do you eat those? I read you can eat the fruit and the pads. We only have tiny ones here and only on the sandy coast

Used to have a now gone hunting partner whose wife made the most fabulous jelly out of pear apples. There have been scuffles in camp when we got near the bottom the last jar. Heaped it on a lot of dropped biscuits. Truly wonderful.

We have never eaten pear apples though we have always had access to so many. That’s funny because we used to harvest agarita berries to make jellies.

Re: Targets!!!!!
I just hate to see them go to waste, and have made jelly three out of the last five years. Getting to be time again and I am running low. Funny, but the pioneer families in New Mexico's Sacramento Mountains also made agarita berry jelly. Many of them were from Texas.

I seldom find enough for more than a taste. Like paw paws and hazel nuts, other critters get to them first.
