Re: A purty AK?
I think I need an MAS 49/56 in 308 for the next purchase. Which... Is another ugly one that I wouldn't mind prettying up a bit. Do you have an FN 49? Money better spent in my view. As far as the rifle goes I'm sure your right, but I've had a few ask about custom pistol grip stocks for the MA...

Re: Old truck - 1971 Bronco
That's very nice. I had a Bronco II but always wanted an early Bronco.
Too bad you had to let it go.

Re: A purty AK?
Being a custom stock guy I like the look of those, but they are low on the priority list; although that's not a bad price in today's market. I never got into the commie guns, but they now have a strong following. If I do get an AK, the Super VEPR in 308 would be a strong candidate as I could always ...

Re: floppy recoil pad
Since you've already done the slice n dice on the stock, I would look into something like the Benelli design with some sort of shock absorber system built in. Would work great on a scattergun with no scope eye relief issue to be concerned about. Not really sure if there are after market versions bu...

Re: floppy recoil pad
Maybe you could take it back and get something like a Pachmayer White Line Recoil Pad that screws on. I second that thought. As you have already cut the stock, I would think properly installing a recoil pad would be a more satisfying move. Grinding a pad to fit was my "Gateway Drug" to cu...

Re: BLR Qs: light hammer strikes & peep sights
There is a difference in the headspace spec with an overlap. There is a sweet spot where 308 and 7.62x51 can both headspace. I have all of my M1As headspaced that way. Have your headspace checked against the 7.62mm x 51mm SAAMI Spec.

Re: The Ugliest Levergun?
The Mossberg has NO redeeming reatures, IMO. http://www.gunsholstersandgear.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Mossberg_464_SPX_01.jpg Are you kidding? It would make an awesome prop for a Star Trek movie. If Borgs used leverguns it would be the Mossberg! I'm thinking Firefly would be a ...

Another new member from DFW Texas
Hello, I figured I ought to introduce myself. I'm new to the lever guns forum and new to lever guns in general as I have my first one inbound, a Browning BLR 7mm-08 that I'm getting in trade. I don't know much about it, but I'm looking forward to it. I'm retired USAF and am now a full time custom st...

Re: american gunsmith
Chuck 100 & Mescalero, I'm new to the lever guns forum and new to lever guns as I have my first one inbound, a Browning BLR I'm getting in trade. I'm a custom stock maker and interested in the MAS 49/56. Is there any way I could also get a copy of that article? I will gladly pay for the trouble....
