I subscribed for about 10 years. It kinda got to the point they were doing lots of stuff over it seemed to me and the price is way out of line for what you get.

Each month when it came I`d look in the Q&A section in the back. Even that was getting boring. "Can I rechamber my .22 Rimfire to handle .223?? " :x Etc.etc. :?

Do you still have them, if so; how far back?
It sounds like your time frame covers what I am looking for.
Do they have an old copy service for articles they have run?
Please respond.

I have a stack of binders with one year in each. at least 10 years worth. I would have to go count them. They do offer back issues I believe. Problem is the index system is very poor and finding what you need is a chore.

What info do you need. Maybe I can help.
PM me, sometimes I forget to look at a thread again for several days. :D

The article I am looking for deals with how to deal with the problems encountered with the Century Arms conversions of the .308 conversions of the French MAS 49/56.
It comes from May of 2005, but it may be May of 2003 or May of 2008, the online text I can see is not clear enough to distinguish.

No, mine runs fine.
But other people seem to be having trouble and I want to be able to fix them if I need to.
When they work, they are great guns.

I got side tracked today after work.
A big job that I have to do and short of time.
If you will be a little patient I will find it if I have it.
I will let you know when I do. It may be a couple days
before I get time to go through that stuff.

Look at my name................
patience was probably the biggest lesson we learned.
I contacted them today, and they only have back issues for the last three years.
If I subscribe, then I would have access to the article archive; but she could not guarentee that the article in question would be in the archive.
Now a question for the computer gurus................
I found the article online and gleaned the info from what I could ascertain from the Scanned copy of the article.
Is there a methodology to go back to the online scan and enhance the scan?

Could you send me the address of the scan, e-mail me the scan, something?
Sincerely,

Mescalero I found my copy. I have American Gunsmiths from
2005 (newest) going back 14 years.

" Make That Converted MAS 1949-56 Work Right"
American Gunsmith
Volume XX Number 5
May 2005
It is 5 full pages of highly technical detail about why they don`t and how to make one work.
Suggested that "only a highly experienced gunsmith should attempt the mods needed"

Since it is no longer being sold by them, I wonder if it would be ok to copy it ??? You know Copyright laws and all.
I guess I could give away my copy to a friend for free and they would have no problem with that.

PM me your address and I will fix you up pard.

As I found it on the internet, I assume it is in the public domain, and therefore is no longer propriatary information.
But I am a DAR, and not an attorney.
Thank you very much.

Man, there is Five full pages of info on that little mod.
Looks like one could spend some time perfecting his
rifle if all of it was needed.

Oh well this will give you something to do while you are waiting for your new M1A to come in!!!

Check your snail mail in a couple of days.

Chuck100yd,
Got it today, thank you.
I am not a gunsmith.
But I read the article and it is really just basic machine work, not intimadating at all.

Chuck 100 & Mescalero,

I'm new to the lever guns forum and new to lever guns as I have my first one inbound, a Browning BLR I'm getting in trade. I'm a custom stock maker and interested in the MAS 49/56. Is there any way I could also get a copy of that article? I will gladly pay for the trouble.

Take Care ,
