Here's a few pictures of a 1971 Bronco my youngest son & I worked on and owned for a few years.
I traded it off yesterday for cash & a few firearms.
One of the pistols was a Colts' Python, 2 1/2 inch, .357 or some such...they didn't even take the owners manual out of the plastic wrapper & for some reason have not even fired it.

rust? Ha ha - to say the least.
you could see daylight through the floorboards when I first got it.
5 or 6 years of part time work and I had most of it done.
Looked good - heck ya. It got less than 10 mpg, screamed like a vacuum cleaner at while going down the road at 55 mph, and rode just a little worse than a log truck on a gravel road.
It was fun, my kids enjoyed it. I probably drove it 100 miles total on half a dozen trips.
Fun while it lasted - time to move on. I'm tempted to take that zip tie off that pistol and shoot it!
10 mpg? That's about what my old '85 Bronco II with the 4.10 axles would get. But you could turn the thing around in the middle of a goat trail and not touch the bushes. And it went everywhere I wanted to go.
44-40 Winchester. Whacking varmits and putting meat on the table since 1873.

My '72 Blazer had 4.11s in the rear with a Detroit locker, a limited slip out of an '64 International up front and 4.10 gears, 35" mudders and it would go anywhere I pointed it that was wide enough.
With the 350ci/350hp and TH350 it would still get 12-14mpg on the highway... IF you kept it below 60!

There is a fine line between hobby & obsession! AND... I'm over it!!
No I ain't ready, but let's do it anyway!
nice Bronco - my sister's best friend in HS had one identical except for color - hers was burnt orange (not without rhyme and reason)
Nice trade, also. I think you did good.
I like the Bronco. It reminds me that my brother bought a brand new Bronco wagon when they first came out in 1966. He's passed on now, but his son still has the old Bronco, still wearing its original paint. Here is a picture of it at a car show:
It would be interesting to see a picture of that Colt you got in trade for your Bronco.

My plow truck is an '81. It's got the 300 six and a four speed. The floors were gone when I got it, they were replaced by college me with 3/4" plywood. That lasted about 3-4 years by which time I had a welder and friends that taught me about working sheet metal, the metal floor has been in for the last 5-6 years. Here's a picture from the first day I brought it home. It's been a great vehicle and unfailingly reliable despite being worked like a mule.
Shasta: That '66 is awesome!

I have a 75 Chevy half ton truck with a 454 engine that seems to get roughly the same usage you're describing. It is a completely underutilized vehicle, usually driven only to weekend cruise ins and the like. I have pondered getting rid of it but to date have failed to do so.
I want a vintage Vette more than another dusty ol truck, But a buddy of mine has a 63 split window and it just collects dust too.
You should fire that python sometime, it is a unique privilege to be the first to put rounds downrange with a 40 to 50-year-old firearm, but if you don't I totally understand

Ok, you mentioned one... so far, by my count, you're on the negative side of the trade!
Griff,
Considering everything I put into that old truck, yes, I'd say I'm on the negative side of that trade.
Firearms, too. Heck, I'll read on the net somewhere next week about someone buying a Python three years ago for $230 that came with a 1 oz gold coin.
I'll try & post pics of the pistols I received...

I have a 1966 looks like that one-----same original paint/70,000 original miles(I am the second owner)
They are unreal tough. No steering stops(that year only)so that would out go a CJ5 in the tight areas.
Simple as they come! Open the hood just that clean little 170 straight 6
I like putting mine in low range(1st gear)going up a hill, get out while its going up the hill and walk beside it!(watch peoples faces)
