A .22 wmr is plenty for 'yotes (been there, done that), so a .44 mag should be plenty. It all has to do with range and where they are hit. Don't need any magic bullet. Just necessary accuracy.

Kim, not to nitpick, but, if it's chambered for the .44 Russian, it isn't a Schofield. It's a S&W Model #3, probably 3rd model. To be a Schofield, it would have to be chambered for the .45 S&W Schofield cartridge.
