POLL: What's YOUR King of the Leverguns ?
A few of us have many leverguns, while many of us have a few - but ALL of us have one CENTERFIRE levergun that goes out either first, last, the most, whatever, it's your "Go-To Gun".
( I omitted the Sako - I've only seen it mentioned once in the last three years here)
(note: Below "edits" are in bold) I was hopin' a moderator reformatted this to a voting poll, by now.
Which is YOURS ?
1 ) BLR
2 ) Henry
3 ) Marlin 1894 (all types old/new/all calibers)
4 ) Marlin 336 (all types, including 444/1895/ER.)
5 ) Mossberg (old or new)
6 ) Savage 99
7 ) Winchester 73 (OK, OK )
8 ) Winchester 88
9 ) Winchester 1886 (all types/clones - includes M-71)
10 ) Winchester 1892 (all types/clones - Browning/Rossi/Puma/etc/etc.)
11) Winchester 1894 (all types/styles - including M55, M64, BB, Timber, etc.)
12) Winchester 1895 (all types/clones)

Marlin 336
Been that way for over 30 years.

As you all know by now , the Winchester Mod. 94 in the Big Bore configuration. Slim, powerful, balanced and except for the stupid frankenstein bolt on mine(first year introduced 1992), beautiful!

Hard to choose, lately it's been my Winchester 65 in 25-20. Although I still like to plink with my Rossi in 45 Long Colt.
The only hope you have is to accept the fact that you are already dead. And the sooner you accept that, the sooner you will be able to function as a soldier is supposed to function, without mercy, without compassion, without remorse.

Got to go with the 336 for a go-to gun. Love my Winchesters but they need pampering.
gon2shoot: forgive these guys, they may be old and crotchety. The 1895 is a permutation of the 336.

Winchester 94 Classic Rifle, 26 inch octagon barrel, steel (not stamped) cartridge lifter. I've had this rifle since 1969. It left the factory with a Black, not gold, loading gate, a select barrel, and a then-experimental cartridge lifter that was being developed to replace the stamped piece of stuff that the factory had been putting into the model 94 since 64. I mostly just plink with this rifle these days, but it's deadly accurate if I do my part.
OK, If I can't choose the 22LR, it would have to be the gun I know I can shoot next best.
Win 94, Trapper, Williams FP, 360 Dan Wesson cartridge. 180-207 grain bullets.

Since I can't choose the marlin tds in .22, It would have to be either the Marlin cowboy in .357, or the winchester 94 in 32 spl. The marlin is in a "place keeper" function right now as I await my emf in .357 from NKJ. Then it wil be my go to gun.

To answer as best I can, currently: BLR Lightning, .308, bought new in early 1997, and current in the Browning catalog as of that time. I should add the disclaimer that I have not really wrung this one out in a long-term trek across a great wilderness, so I really don't know that it's a truly tough rifle, and I have never shot it from a proper bench-rest set-up, so I don't know if it can shoot MOA. It is not even my idea of the best lever rifle, currently produced or made in the past, but it is what I have for now, feeds reliably, and shoots where I have aimed at practical distances in the thick, brushy woods of East Texas.
I liked this first BLR enough that when the stainless/laminated version came out in a limited run a couple of years back, I bought two of them, but I have not yet wrung them out, so they are not yet proven. In my urbanized environment, I am doing good to get enough range time with my duty-related long guns, so my sporting weapons don't get much use for now.
Perhaps I should add that I almost decided to be a bit of a rebel and say my "go to" king of lever rifles is one of my Ruger Numbers Ones.

Me, too, but I won't limit it to Brownings.WoodrowC wrote:Browning 71 does it for me.
