So Perry, are you going to see what you can do with the Charter Arms? I had a friend who filled in some deep pits on a 1911 slide with J-B Weld and sanded it smooth then coated it with one of the oven cured epoxy finishes (I think from Brownells) dark matte gray came out looking pretty good.

I can't answer for the others but for me: I do like the .30-30 and currently have four, Marlin 336, Mossberg 472, Winchester trapper, Winchester Classic. The 38-55 is a similar round except to me a little harder hItting at similar ranges than the .30-30 because of the larger diameter, heavier bullet...

I have no experience with the .450 Marlin, but at that price I could gain some in short order. Good deal on that BLR! My only concern would be stocking up on brass. There is certainly a large variety of .458" bullets to choose from.

We have beef that we have had in the freezer for two plus years. Double wrapped, and kept frozen, I have never had any problems. I believe that it could go longer but personally have never kept any longer. I have never had any problem with freezer burn in 2 1/2 years either.
