Re: The Human Condition..............
I cannot fathom how society has come to the point where kids kill their parents and friends. What is missing today ? ... raised on a working farm ... 32 miles to town ... spent the summers building fence and chasing cattle ... canning the garden truck and butchering a hog and steer ... hunted with ...

Re: OT -- I probably shouldn't have done it, but I did.
It's not discrimination if their JOB is to communicate verbally in English but they are incompetent & or unintelligible. Exactly so. I made a call to Dell Computers, earlier today. Understood about five words of the ~100 spoken to me, before she realized that communication was impossible. Immed...

Re: OT: the Unimpeachable witness
Actually, nothing really personal to you. I'm just tired of the goody-two-shoes of the world and their cameras. Be tired ... but also be careful about whether you're willing to commit assault, battery or robbery to enforce your opinions of privacy in public on others. They'll have every right to re...

Re: Browning BLR: rebarrel to different caliber
Thanks for the comments, all. Some platforms support caliber changes without much fuss.
Being a lefty, the BLR is one of a handful of firearms that "fits" well, is easy to handle, easy to manipulate. Too bad it doesn't come in a greater variety of calibers.

Browning BLR: rebarrel to different caliber
Am wondering about rebarreling and what the limits are, on a given gun. Many folks seem to create wildcat setups and things end up working reasonably well. Magazines, for example, are often sold to cover a range of "long" or "short" actions (ie, the BLR "short" magazine...

2001 VW Passat 4Motion sedan
My 2001 Volkswagen Passat 4Motion (AWD) sedan gets ~16mpg mixed, ~12.5mpg city and ~24mpg highway. That V6 is not the most efficient unit that VW/Audi ever made. By comparison, the 1.8T is far, far more fuel efficient. Just saw a 40mpg Smart trundling by, the other day, and I noticed an involuntary ...

Re: Politics - Tim Robbins quote
I read the quote below in today's edition of "The Federalist Chronicle". Reading the entire speech that Robbins delivered presents a somewhat different view. It was delivered in satire, pointing fingers at an industry (news/media) that seems infatuated with fatuous sound bytes, instead of...

Re: OT- too deep sight drill = blown thumb
Upon examining the rifle he found the drills for the rear sight where done too deep into the barrel, but no so much to blow on the first shots. The thin wall suffered repeated fathigue form each firing until it finally blowed. Good reminder that cutting into a barrel isn't child's play. Competent g...

Since a violent felon is risking incarceration for years, it's hard to believe how naive one must be to think that said felon is going to worry about a silly weapons charge getting tacked on to the arrest. It's only upstanding citizens that end up being disarmed ... and that cannot possibly be a goo...

It's an open auction format. You see all kinds of prices. It's nothing more than that. You see instances of a fairly-priced item hanging for weeks, but then the next day youl'll see a fairly-priced item snapped up. Likewise, you'll see an item twice that cost hang for weeks or months, but at some po...

Re: ot Livin in CA
She brought up northern CA, I could like it up there. Whats the gun laws like? Carried in Calif. for years. The far northern counties can be quite gun friendly. "Oppressive" and "restrictive" certainly covers some of the state, but really only in two areas: the mere granting of ...
