Re: Powder coating some cast bullets
There are several methods you can use to apply it. I use a cheap electric sprayer, but there are air/electric sprayers, or you can tumble them dry , or use a wet tumble method. The spraying and dry tumbling use static to let the powder adhere to the bullet before baking them. I find spraying is much...

Re: Powder coating some cast bullets
Looks like a winner! I've been powder coating all my pistol bullets, and most rifle bullets for a while now. I really like it better than convention lube for most things. No smoke, no leading, faster than a lubesizer. I've run some 375 Winchester and 30-30 bullets to 2200 fps and maintained great ac...

Sometimes I do the loose fitting shirt left untucked, but sometimes you just can't be so casual and need nicer attire, that's tucked in. Maybe a cell phone case to cover the exposed belt clips, or at lease one of them.

I've had a few over the years, but currently just this 357. I shoot 180 gr. cast bullets with 15.0 gr. of LilGun. Measured speed of 1367 fps. It's quite a thumper, and will flat out penetrate! I don't remember the exact depth, but it will shoot through about 2 feet of wet phone books. Off sandbags, ...

No, I gave up on magnum revolvers many years ago--too much flash and bang. In another direction: I doubt VV is available around here, but the data for N110 in my Lyman book looks nifty. The same with the data on the VV site. It works well over the full range of bullets weights in the .357, and it's...

I've only been hog shooting a couple times. One time I used my Marlin 356 with 220 gr. Speers, and the second time I used my 470NE with a 500 gr. cast bullet. The 470 put them down considerably faster than the 356. If I were to go again, I'd probably take my 444 with 265 gr. Hornadys, and a 37...

Re: Big $$$ Scopes....whats the story.?
There's a lot of "depends" as to whether or not it's worth the price difference. If you are an average eastern deer hunter you will get along with a lower line Leupold just as well as you will a Schmidt & Bender. If you are shooting long range competition, or serious work with a sniper...

Start discharging a toy gun while he's eating. When that's all good, feed him a bowl outside and use a .22...When that's cool, move up to a shotgun....After awhile, he will associate the gun with food, and (hopefully) solve your problem. We will try that. He's going to have to work on that if he's ...

The BC blackening is also reversible easily. Simply buff it off to return to the shiny brass finish. It's a surface treatment, so not any different than any tarnished brass. My only question with the commemorative Winchester receivers that are brass plated is what is over the plating? I've never se...

Interesting experience last night. Drifter was hanging out with us in the living room when my daughter came in with a plastic toy pump shotgun. it's about 2/3 scale, and realistic looking. I think if I do anything, I'll try this at home first. A hydrographics kit can be bought for $75 bucks, and the film is only $10. And the best part, if I screw it up, it's completely reversible.

You aren't heating it very deeply, just to where heat rings show - not to glowing. I'm not a metallurgist, but structural integrity should not be an issue with that small amount of spot warming. The info I have came from documentation on how to put such a "finish" on expedient submachineg...

Re: Need ideas for fake case hardening
Faux case hardening can be done with a torch and oil. All surfaces need to be polished first, but not degreased. With gun disassembled (no springs to heat) smear a light coat of light oil (just a few drops) onto the surface to be treated. Heat with a gas torch held aprox 1" from the surface. H...
