Re: "Dissolving the myth" posted to Sixgunner.com
I've referred to that same passage over the years. I'd copied it into my notes. I'm looking for a 45 Colt levergun and plan to load it subsonic, with Linebaugh's recommendation in mind. It should be a pleasant little shooter.Scott Tschirhart wrote: ↑Fri Jan 10, 2025 5:27 am This is what got me to shooting lighter loads in my .45 Colt.

Subsonic 22 LR in my HRA are quite enjoyable. Out on the grass away from the firing line, I touched off a few without earplugs: no worries. I've since been looking to get a 45 Colt lever and doing the same 1000 fps or so with it.

Venturino's Shooting Lever Guns of the Old West has 50-110-300 data. With an NEI cast bullet in a 2.75" cartridge (2.40" case), he used 40 gn 5744 for 1605 fps and 105 gn FFg for 1726 fps. Both speeds best the 1536 fps he gave for the factory rating. All speeds are for a 26" barrel.

Looking in my notes this morning for something else, I came across those for the Uberti '73 in 44 Mag. I noticed, however, that the parts list on the factory site gives the same part numbers for...

Step right up and get your '73 Winchester clone in 44 Magnum . New this time around is the pistol grip and optional Picatinny rail ( :? ). Here is one estimate of the total tax take per capita by the various states. It's not a complete picture. Percentage of income taken would be a better measure.
