I have a Winchester 71 and a Browning High Grade 71 Carbine both guns have the original metal butt plates but I added a slip on Limbsaver to both. They work well and do not alter the rifles. I say go with the original metal plate then get a slip on or leather butt pad. The ones out of Cabelas look p...

I've got one in a 1895 USRAC Winchester. I have a slip on limbsaver butt pad and recoil is not a problem even from the bench. That limb saver tames it right down. I use factory and handloaded ammo, no problem.

Mornin' Boys, Well look what followed me home. Pedrosoli Silouette Sharps in .45-70 Govt. I had it out to the range yesterday. Trying to work up some loads for it. Shooting smokeless powder for now, I don't know if I will get into Black powder cartidge for it. I do need to get a verneir sight for it...
