Don't know if this applies in your case or not, but when I was forced to go to bifocals I learned for the first time why it's really best to shoot with both eyes open. Since I trained myself to do that, I have no problem seeing my sights, and I'm shooting better than ever.

With the standard sights on a 336 or 94, I have no problem making deer-killing shots to 100 yards. With a good receiver sight and a well-matched front sight, given a clear shot, I can manage the same on out to 200.

IMO, in an arena where there is as much competition as the credit card market there is no such thing as an "unfair" fee or interest rate. What there are is plenty of consumers too stupid/lazy to do their homework and shop around for a decent deal.

Just a suggestion -- are you sure the blue came off, or did you just uncover a silvery flash-deposit of lead, as I do every time I fire my Uberti SAA with cast loads? When I decide to clean it off (not often) a brief gentle rub with Flitz polish brings the blue right back.

My wipin' rag is an old T-shirt sprayed with the cheap silicone spray from WalMart, and kept in a ziplock. Works as well as anything, lasts virtually forever, cheap.

I've got them from 16" to 24". I like the shorty for convenience as a truck gun and in the really tight cover, the 24" when the woods are open and the extra sight radius might come in hamdy on a longer shot, and the 20" is just good all around.

Like a spinning top, the rotation does begin to slow the instant the bullet leaves the barrel. But the time of flight is very short, so the spin slows very little during that time. For either velocity or RPMs to increase after the bullet leaves the barrel is a physical impossibility .

It slides out partially, then come to a stop, right? At that point, put a bit of downward pressure on it while giving it a firm tug. Sounds to me like it may just not want to ride over the hammer, and downward pressure will cam the hammer down just a tad more.

I keep Oxpho-Blue, .44-40, and Birchwood-Casey Perma Blue on hand. Why all three? I find that often when one won't work well on a particular gun, one of the others will. There is enough difference in the formulas and the steels involved that it can make a BIG difference.

A rifle weighing no more than 8 pounds suits me just fine -- as long as it has a good, broad shotgun butt. That seems to help me more with the recoil than the weight, and leaves the rifle light enough to tote.

#1 benefit of increased velocity is better trajectory. Ft-lbs of energy -- unless you're going up against really big brutes -- is strictly secondary.
