Re: I love modern electronics in my truck, but when they don’t work..

problem here is those older less technology trucks are all rotted away...I'd get a HiLux in a hot second if they'd allow it... They are and the ones that aren't are crazy expensive. This truck was for sale locally. It's a `51 Chevy body on an `80's K20 frame. It' s a cool truck and they did a decen...

CraigC, your Chevy truck is beautiful.....thanks for the picture! Thanks! Other than the exterior plastic being sun damaged, it was practically new when I got it, at 19yrs old. The tires were also dry rotted. I replaced the tires, lights and mirrors. Installed a new head unit with navigation, two a...

If they charged you $100 for a fuel or oil filter, they saw you coming. No offense, but that must be a dealer price. Sorry but it's not that kind of shop. They got `em where they got `em, they cost what they cost. I don't know what your intent here is but do we really need to analyze line by line t...

Two fuel filters at $100 apiece and 12 quarts of synthetic oil, it adds up. The labor was the smallest component. It hasn't been worth it to me to do my own oil changes in years.

Re: I love modern electronics in my truck, but when they don’t work..

I've pretty much thrown in the towel on new vehicles. I bought a new `16 Ram 2500 with the Cummins and thought I'd drive it until I was an old man. I work from home so I don't put a lot of miles on a vehicle. At less than three years old, I took it in for basic type nitpicking recalls and the idiots...

Re: heaviest big game bullets in 44mag

The old Beartooth 355gr is my favorite. At standard pressure using the upper crimp groove, they'll run over 1200fps out of a revolver. Did a really good job on an 1800lb longhorn I tested them on. Using the lower crimp groove and more H110 than any manual would suggest, I got them to 1350fps out of ...

Agree 100% on the .357 comments. I have some wonderful sixguns that chamber the cartridge but it will never be a favorite. The very best of .357 sixguns get converted to something more interesting, like the two projects I've got going now. There will always be something special about the ole .38WCF.

The 250gr Keith is classic but honestly, I've killed a whole slew of stuff with generic 240gr bevel base SWC's at 1100-1400fps. WFN's make a bigger hole but for deer sized game, the SWC is plenty.

Okay, I noticed that the Taylor's 1892 looks just like the Dixie Gun Works version and they're both made by Chiappa. The DGW listing says they're 1-16" twist. They're also drilled & tapped for a tang sight and I don't see a safety. So it very well could be that all the newer Chiappa 1892's ...

I'm not 100% sure about Taylor's but I think they are Chiappas. I was soured on them when their `76's came out and not only did they have function issues but their wood grain was painted on. Still, if they have a faster twist, it may be worth it. Although I also have to weigh the cost of a rifle aga...
