And don't forget the regional differences either. A Remington pump rifle in any chambering will generally bring a much better price in PA than it will in CA despite their scarcity here on the west coast.

I've had a Model 68 snubbie in .38 special for over 10 years now without any regret. It still shoots just fine. The only thing I'd change on it is the serrated trigger. It would feel better if it was smoothed over. I can't find a gunsmith I feel confident in though. Seems like they've all left town....

Marlin doesn't keep the 41 in their regular lineup. Rather they tend to bring out a model every 4-5 years or so, which then tends to sell out quickly from my experience. It's just one of those chamberings that you have to snag when you come across it and not worry too much about the price.

Nice looking rifle, but the 32 S&W Long wasn't brought out until 1896, I believe, and they place the rifle date at 1890. If that's correct, it would have to have been rechambered at some point, which would make it a good candidate for further rechambering to 32 H&R magnum.

I have a newer model and simply won't sell it. It carries nice and is more accurate than I can hold. Like marlin shooter said, it really shines when reloaded in the 200-250 grain range. They are complicated rifles, and usually function just fine, but can be a real PITA when the timing gets off.

Awkward in that I'll probably never get used to operating any rifle mechanism with my left hand. It's just not natural to me. I don't like pump shotguns for the same reason.

I have a real fondness for the 300 Savage and the 444 Marlin - see below. I don't think there is a cartridge I dislike although there are quite a few that may be more powerful than I'd ever want.
