I was going to put them on my Thunder Ranch, which has become my EDC pistol, but they just didn't look right on a "modern" style 1911. They do look right at home on an old Colt though (IMHO).

You did have to post them over here, didn't you Dan? Now I'll be forced to see them everytime somebody posts a reply to gush over them (and probably mention Esmeralda's attractive appearance as well). Then I'll be forced to dream about the stocks and end up buying a pair for one of my 1911s or worse yet a new 1911 just for the stocks... You devil you!
They ARE nice!
Sincerely,
Hobie

I recently saw something very intersting in a sportsman's guide flyer - they have genuine stag 1911 grips for $76 or less if you're a buyer's club member. That's very low for genuine stag....

I think they called it "ivorywood" on the 1911 forum which could be the holly.

Hobie is correct, Esmeralda lists them as Ivorywood, I had never heard of it until I saw them on her web site. Is American Holly a very lightweight wood? These are extremely light, almost like balsa.

I agree - the stocks look best on classic designs. Man, that pair on your 1911 looks fantastic! If I didn't already have stag grips on my 1911, I would have to get another pair. I have been thinking about adding a few more celtic-design grips to various handguns; just need to replenish the funds first!
Congratulations!!!
And more for you guys to drool over:
And yes Hobie, Esmeralda is just as fine as the grips she makes!!!
