Tightening up a mag tube
My Winchester (1892) in 44 mag has come play in the mag tube. It will turn about 1/8" to either direction. It is about 2 years old but I just started shooting it. Any advice on how to tighten it up?

I'm surprised no one replied. My non-expert input is to suggest shooting for groups first for a bench mark, there are reports of a too-tite-magazine affecting accuracy, but IDK how.
That's an awesome gun, hope it feeds you well . . .

Re: Tightening up a mag tube
Which end is loose, receiver or muzzle end?
I can think of many ways to tighten it up but none ( other than shim stock) are better than a Bubba shade tree mechanic could do.
Shoot it for accuracy then if front is loose try a wrap or two of scotch tape until it snugs up.
I dont remember if the mag tube is threaded into the receiver or not... if so a small drop of blue loctite on the threads. If they are slip fit then again scotch tape.
Then shoot for accuracy and compare.
Or
I shudder with disgust, as I saw a professional gunsmith/ instructor do this on a rifle, use crazy glue! Like I said, Bubba .

Is it a rifle or carbine? They have different attachment methods.
Are you the first owner?
If carbine, can the front band screw be snugged up any? Does the end cap screw snug up tight against the barrel?
If rifle, the end cap screw question still applies. The magazine tube ring has a pin to help hold the tube in place in the side of the ring nearest the barrel.
Im not overly concerned about a little play, binding can cause issues with fliers as the barrel heat up and tension on barrel changes from tight mag tubes. If its loose enough to escape whatever holds it in place is the only thing that Id be concerned with

24". Original owner. The whole tube will move side to side about 1/8".
