Drone Question
With all these drones flying around, can't a drone geek send another one up to follow it? I see these skiers in Wyoming sending up personal drones that follow them around all day....
Re: Drone Question
.
I saw an interview on a news program where a sheriff deputy innNew Jersey sent up a drone to look for the intruding ones, and they made the comment that these intruding drones didn’t have a thermal signature, which is pretty interesting. Even a relatively inexpensive thermal scope will pick up a thermal signature from a battery if there’s any current flowing.

Re: Drone Question
A guy in New Jersey supposedly sent up his drone to do just that. His drone was almost lost in the process. Apparently he lost control and the battery in his drone was instantly sucked dry of power.

Re: Drone Question
I've heard that people's TV go out when these are over their house.
If that's the case then the drone is sending out jamming of some sort, not your average teenager making these in his basement.

Ray .. I don't know why someone doesn't bring down one of the ones that they are concerned about. The Sheriff or some of the Police could easily do it and deny any knowledge if they are questioned. Just do what the government is doing .."We have no information about any such occurrence."

Well for one thing they have cameras. Might transmit the video.JimT wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2024 10:17 am Ray .. I don't know why someone doesn't bring down one of the ones that they are concerned about. Re: Drone Question
One reporter's take on the drone invasion:
"Let me begin with a phrase I never used to start a story in 45 years as a TV reporter: “I may be wrong.” This entire piece may be wrong, but those 45 years on the air and 2000+ hours as a pilot tell me I’m right. The MSM floods their newscasts with reports of drone-terrified citizens ready to head for the hills over the latest media-induced scare. The word “drones” is now synonymous with “doom.” This is simply a media-driven scam. The MSM media is searching for something, anything, to boost ratings since their failure to ensure the election of the woman they considered God’s chosen presidential candidate. One man now claims 50 drones came from the Atlantic and chased him. He got his time on TV and didn’t even have to pay Oprah $2.5 mil. I wonder if he has also seen Sasquatch."

Re: Drone Question
It is clearly a psy-op, and it's working. The question is, what is all the misdirection intended to over up? Eventually, it will become clear, and the challenge then will be to call BS on the whole thing. Lots of people are going to fall for it hook, line and sinker -- whatever it is...
Re: Drone Question
.
I’m sure there is if nothing else a sigh of relief from the left-wing media that there is something to distract the electorate from the corruption of the Democrats.
Of course, a lot of this hype could be partly due to a desire to come up with excuses to more tightly regulate civilian drone usage…
https://youtu.be/GLuZOpxVFcQ
My guess is about half the sightings are just hobby drones. People are sitting up to look for other dogs, or to get attention, or people, mistaking aircraft for drones. The problem is the other half on a so-called ‘swarm of drones’, is chasing a Coast Guard ship, that doesn’t sound like, your average hobbyist, nor would it make sense to blame that on commercial aircraft.
I finally got a small one I hope to use to do things like check fence lines, and count our chickens (maybe chase them if I’m in a mood
) and maybe set it up to get fish lines in trees to pull up ropes for safer cutting, but I haven’t really had a chance to try to use it yet.

Re: Drone Question
My question is about air space and my property. Is it legal to fly over my house with a drone? To what height? What is trespassing?

Re: Drone Question
This is the most plausible reason for the drone sighting that I've seen so far....
NJ Drone ‘Invasion’ Just in Time for Congress to Reauthorize Orwellian Law
https://americafirstreport.com/nj-drone ... llian-law/
From the article
The "FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018" expires on December 20th of this year.
It’s coincidental that last week, a Homeland Security joint subcommittee held a hearing on H.R.8610, the Counter-UAS Authority Security, Safety, and Reauthorization Act. This bill would renew and reform counter-UAS legal authorities and strengthen the FAA’s oversight powers of drones.
“The reason we need legal authority is that without it, use of the most effective types of drone detection and counter-drone technologies could violate criminal laws, including those that prohibit destroying or disabling aircraft in flight and intercepting signals and communications,” said Brad Wiegmann, the DOJ’s deputy assistant attorney general for national security.
With current drone-countering authorities set to expire on Dec. 20, the sudden surge in purported drone sightings and the accompanying MSM and social media panic might make a bit more sense—as an effort to push for the reauthorization of Orwellian drone laws.

Re: Drone Question
i was told that anything up to 150 ft is your airspace, anything over belongs to the government, which just about treetop level here, so if i see one below my treeline, bye bye birdieGobblerforge wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2024 8:03 am My question is about air space and my property.
