Is there any specific rules to follow putting the two of these together ?
I would like to shoot lead in my marlin 1894p.

Re: Lead bullets and ported barrels
Years ago I had a Ruger m77 Tropical Rifle in .458 that was magnaported. I only shoot cast bullets and was constantly cleaning lead off the front sight base. I finally gave up and sold the rifle.....I still regret selling it.
Re: Lead bullets and ported barrels
I've got one of the early ported Guide Guns and avoided lead for quite a few years but finally broke down and started shooting hardcast in it. The front sight ramp gets a bit grimey but it cleans up easily enough with a wet patch and old toothbrush.

Re: Lead bullets and ported barrels
Have a Taurus M 44 that is ported, with hard lead with a gas check or plain base it will lead the bbl. & the ports
thats at about 1100 fps, change to softer lead like wheel weights & the leading goes away
both ways are with the same load, go figure?
