A couple of recent acquisitions….

Post by Bridger »

A Remington 1903 Springfield tastefully sporterized to look like a NRA Sporter. Barrel date is July of 1942. Though this is only my second one, 1903 Sporters are as addicting as levers lol

The other is a standard weight A5 in 16 gauge, made in 1956. The thing is basically in like new condition except where at some point in the distant past somebody decided to engrave their drivers license number on the bottom of the lower tang. But it’s not really noticeable unless you are looking for it.

The quality of these guns is amazing to me. Especially the Springfield. A super high quality, forged and milled rifle for the price of some plastic junk at the Walmart gun counter. Why they can be had so cheap I’ll never understand but I am thankful! Lol

A good score... I once tried to buy an A1 sweet sixteen off a little old lady but she handed it in to the police before I could make an offer..

Darn, I hate when someone gives guns to the police! They'll either be destroyed or more likely will end up at some policeman's home.

I hope the latter. IT is more than criminal when good old guns get destroyed!

Sweet! I have two Auto-5's . The sound of hitting the bolt release is like a blacksmith hitting an anvil with a hammer. Enjoy. :D .

Very nice finds.

Guns that have a ssn engraved on them don't bother me. I had a single six for a good number of years that had one on the butt. I almost had it memorized, though I can't recall now. It ended up having some spitting issues and Ruger replaced it instead of fixing it.

Thanks guys!

I feel like these are classic mid 1900’s guns that everyone should have an example of. In truth the DL number on the A5 doesn’t bother me too much but I would personally never do such a thing. I shot the A5 yesterday and it works just like it’s supposed to….double shuffle and all lol
I intend to make sure that it gets used enough so as not to look quite so pristine in a few years. A gun from 56 deserves to get used some!
