Picked up this Marlin 36A at the local gun shop for 200, with Redfield 4x scope. The stock was really rough. I pulled it off and refinished. During disassembly the magazine tube stud screw head snapped off. Drilled it out. I have tried Brownells, Numerich, and Midway for a replacement with no luck. Any ideas?
The rifle shoots 1" at a hundred with factory 150's. While refinishing the stock I noticed some carving near the butt plate. Inscribed was "Nov 22, '48 4 PT". Wonder if it was a deer or elk?) My daughter will be using it this year for a deer. We will see if she can have a repeat of its previous owner, after 60 years.

If all else fails and you can't find a replacement part, then I'd just get a standard screw from brownells of the correct thread pitch and cut to size and use that - if that's not possible, then redrill and tap the hole to the next size up and go that route.
Yup, my 36D had broken firing pin but Numrich had none for the 36D so I took a chance and ordered one for a 1893, and though slightly different in profile the fit and operation was perfect.
Hmm, 1893 is sounding good I'll give it a try. Daughters sixteen and her younger sister will be using a 336 SS she got two days ago for her birthday. I'm trying to keep both of them away from guys with nicknames like wildman though.

Sounds like a great family when both sisters shoot leverguns. Your daughters are safe from me, way to young and they pack nice guns. LOL!!!
