OT - NIB 1972 Ruger Blackhawk Three Screw

Post by Old Savage »

1972 Ruger Blackhawk NIB, with the information of late regarding 45 Colt Rugers and cylinder measurements, what would we expect would be the case here?

Old Savage,

There is a remote chance the chamber throats would be over sized. But ~ chances are much better they would be under sized. My 71 vintage had throats around .450" and no two were the same. A couple were even oval shaped.

Were I to pick up that gun, the first thing I'd do is slug the throats. The second is probably send the cylinder to the Cylinder Smith for reaming.
