Hi there.
I have had my 357 for a while now, and love it's accuracy.
It looks great, with the colour case hardened action, and octagonal barrel.
My problem is, it's not great at feeding the rounds from the magazine.
Extraction is good, as long as you are heavy handed with it.
Can anyone tell me if the lifter is supposed to ride against the inside wall, just ahead of the loading gate?
It looks to me like the friction is sometimes preventing the lifter from running smoothly?
I don't want to strip it, and work to free it up, if this is going to cause other problems.
Any help would be great.
Thanks

Hi,
Fellow Brit here and I have a .44 mag Chiappa Alaskan.
I found after some use slicked up nicely.

I would put on a glove and work that lever several hundred times briskly. You will probably find out that it slicks up pretty well after that.

Thanks for the replies.
I'm probably more concerned with the wear mark on the inside of the receiver. As you look at the carrier/ lifter, the side of the load gate shows heavy wear.
Is anyone able to post a photo of that area of their receiver, for comparison?
Thanks

Red axle grease is your friend. Put some on a q tip and put the grease where the wear mark is.
Re: Chiappa 1892 357
Hope you get it sorted. Personally I'll never buy another chiappa.. QA issues with 357, my 410/22Lr double badger( two warranty returns regards trigger and firing pin and could never get it to group better than 6" at 50 yards with any 22LR ammo) . Then their spencer carbines which have a whole forum dedicated to fixing them. I am eternally suprised this manufacturer is so well tolerated. In fact I think it is the higher price point which makes people think its quality. At least Rossi charges an appropriate price for roughness, and 99% of the time they can be fixed...

Re: Chiappa 1892 357
That could be the problem. The carrier should not contact the back of the loading gate. It will contact the inside of the receiver just in front of the loading gate. There is a tab on the back of the loading gate that serves as a guide to keep the cart toward the left side. If the carrier is contacting that guide it will impede the upward motion of the carrier.Fordpaul wrote: ↑Wed Aug 18, 2021 3:15 am Thanks for the replies.
